Is your diet compromised because you can't eat the food you used to? Do you look older than you should because you lack facial support from healthy teeth? What are Dentures?

A denture is a dental prosthesis that replaces your entire dentition or simply the teeth in your mouth. Depending on your goals and budget, it can be made from 3D printed resin to acrylic, to the same material used for dental crowns. A denture can drastically improve the quality of your life and dental health!

Types of Dentures

You and your dentist at 208 Dental will review your options when deciding on what type of denture is best for your mouth and your budget. You can preview what types of dentures we offer below.

  • Traditional Denture - A complete replacement of both upper and lower teeth. This denture is fully removable at any time.
  • Implant Retained Denture - Same as above, except two implants are typically placed in one's lower jaw to minimize movement of the denture.
  • Implant Supported Denture - Multiple implants are placed in one's upper and lower jaw so that a denture can be fully supported by the implants but still removed by the patient.
  • All-on-4 or Hybrid Denture - This option allows a patient to enjoy a complete replacement of their teeth that is not only fully supported by implants but also does not need to be removed daily. It achieves the best chewing capacity and esthetic outcomes.

The Process of Receiving a Denture

Following a thorough examination and a meaningful discussion with Dr. Goettsche, you may decide a denture is the best solution for you. If so, Dr. Goettsche will further educate you on which type of denture best suits your needs and desires. Depending on your chosen option, your appointments for preparing the denture will vary.

Following the denture preparation, you will undergo the extractions of your remaining dentition, and any implants can be placed on the same day. Furthermore, implants can be placed later if you aren’t ready to jump to a denture that includes implants. Even a few years later, your denture can be fitted for those implants.

Dr. Goettsche aims for you to be as comfortable as possible throughout this process. Because of this, at 208 Dental, we offer several amenities to help calm you, including nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral conscious sedation, general sedation offered by a qualified sedation provider, weighted blankets, ceiling TVs, and headphones!
